My PC won't turn on after installing new ram.

I recently installed 16gb of ddr4 ram into my pc, and when I went to turn it on after installation the pc would cycle on and off every 5 seconds. It's a brand new PC with a Gigabyte GA-Z170XP-SLI motherboard. It was running fine before, and the old ram sticks are no longer working either. Any ideas? I am unable to get into the bios.

More details:

This all started when I noticed that my PC was only recognizing 8 gb of my new 16 gb ram set. I powered down my pc, then took out the ram and put it back in. I figured i must've installed one incorrectly. After this process my pc cycled on and off continuously every 5 seconds. All the fans and lights turn on, but no signal to the monitor.

No, you can just unplug your computer and touch the CMOS clear pins with a screwdriver for a moment, that should suffice.

I would use just a single stick of RAM and the onboard Intel graphics (remove your GPU or GPUs if you have two) and only leave the boot drive attached. Check all of your connections and insure that they are firmly seated including the CPU ATX12V connector (if you are using a 4 pin instead of 8 make sure that it is in correctly so that yellow wires go to the 12V pins 5 and 6 on the connector and black ground to wires 1 and 2 as shown in your manual p.14.

If it boots, then you can go into the bios and check memory settings. Shutdown add another stick and startup again, then add your GPU and switch the monitor cable...

you wont see more than 2.7 gigs without 64 bit windows as well.
Make sure no hairs or dust got in your memory slots onboard.
Check for the motherboards manufacturer to see your maximum ram speed.
If you have two differing speeds the ram will be divided and slower.
Try one ram at a time to see if one is bad. keep fingers off the gold so you dont contaminate it.

Will this suffice Moderator 1.
Moderator 2 your mistaken. The cmos will never clear with battery out and will function normally without a battery except the time will never stay the same as well as the date as soon as you shut it down.

Thanks

Not only is your advice poor, but you also apparently did not take the time to read my post. At no point did I suggest running without a bios battery, rather just one way to clear the bios that may well have improper settings for his new memory.

And to repeat the actual question asked of you: please explain your statement, "That Ram is too fast for the computer, must use older ram." Considering the motherboard he has runs much faster memory and definitely can run DDR4-2400, that statement seems incorrect. Please enlighten us.

Moreover, your latest comment about 64 bit makes no sense, as he must already be running a 64 bit OS as his PC was recognizing 8GB.
