I currently have a gigabyte z170 gaming 3, but I am going to be returning some ram I had bought with the motherboard at the same store. So that being said I will have a little bit more money to upgrade the motherboard. I personally like the look of the ASRock Fatal1ty Z170 Gaming K6 and was wondering if that's a smart upgrade?

everyday questions like this.... The one you get for less money is the better buy of the 2. that being said, I wouldn't bother upgrading. it's not like a motherboard will make your pc run any faster. Use that money to buy better stuff to stick into the one you have.

In my opinion i would go for the gigabyte. Asrock was created by asus as a cheaper alternative. Gigabyte motherboards are higher quality. There is more chance the Asrock will be DOA since their products are not as high quality. I have a gigabyte motherboard and highly recommend the brand. However it's all much of a muchnes so i would go with the one that you like the look of and has the best amount of ports ect.

That could be the case like 15 years ago when the brand Asrock was created, but not anymore. Asrock has been operating as an independent company for years now and their motherboards are of real good quality, otherwise they'd be out of the game for a long time.
