I'm using a WLAN connection.
I'm pretty far away from the router, my adapter is bad but my ping never drops below 80, I've always used this connection and works well.

Problem is sometimes I get a lot of ping and think it's someone in my family on Youtube, but it turns out they have 70 ping while I'm getting 300. What could be causing this? Thanks in advance.

Solution
No reason why you could not use a powerline adapter (outsdie of earning the $50 or so to get one).
You just plug it into outlet (and i mean outlet, not surge protector, not power strip but right inot the wall) near router, plug other end into your room, and connect the thernet cables. The device sends ethernet data over your home's powerlines.
WiFi is a very challanging variable.
Could be wireless interference from neighbors, could be traffic on your router, could be that your wlan card is having trouble keeping connection.

If you are that worried about ping then why are you using wifi for, its like being worried about acceleration and owning a prius. Either run hardwired ethernet from router to yoru room or get a powerline ethernet adapter.

To be completely honest I'm underaged living in my mom's house, I can't change anything about the connection, this is the best I can get....

That is a GREAT idea thank you so much... gotta try and grab a cheap one of those...
What are the downsides on that?
And BTW do you mean Wifi Powerlines? That's all I can find in my usual tech shop...
