Hello Guys.

I just recently build a new pc from nothing using only Google and Youtube.
My first video card was ASUS AMD Radeon Strix R9 380 with 4GB of VRAM. Everything worked fine I finally played NFS Rivals. But Black Friday came, and I found a new card with the same price: SAPPHIRE AMD Radeon RX 470 NITRO+ OC, with 8GB of VRAM.
The problem is that i have a lot of freeze with some games, for example Rivals. Others are performing well. Some games say during the installation process, that my GPU doesn't meet the requirement (Flatout 3 :))))
After a little research i found that my card requires a 3.0 slot, and my mobo has only 2.0.
All of the drivers are up to date, I tried to reinstall the games, Windows, etc., still the same problem.

Is there anything I missed? What should I try?
Right now i changed back to my "old" GPU, but it gives me the same error that game.

Do you have any recommendations?

PC specs:
Motherboard: MSI 990FXA GAMING, socket AM3+

CPU cooler: Cooler Master V8 GTS v2
GPU: ASUS AMD Radeon Strix R9 380, STRIX-R9380-DC2-4GD5-GAMING, 4GB GDDR5, 256bit
HDD: SEAGATE ST2000DM001, 2TB, 7200RPM, 64MB, SATA 3
SSD: ADATA Premier SP550, 2.5", 120GB, SATA III
RAM: Kingston HX316C10F/8, 8GB DDR3 1600MHz, CL10 (X2)
PSU: Corsair CS750M 80 PLUS® Gold CP-9020078-EU, 750W, ATX 2.3

Thank you for the answers :)

You are fine to use any newer GPU in the pcie2.0x16, review: "Impact of PCI-E Speed on Gaming Performance" https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Impact-of-PCI-E-Speed-on-Gaming-Performance-518/ even it is old.

The frozen problem maybe from the driver or overheat, etc. You may try to use the DDU to uninstall the GPU driver in safe mode, then reinstall the AMD GPU driver. Keep in mind you are better do that before you switch the GPU.

You can go into the "windows event log viewer" to see there is any error(s) that caused your PC problem too.

Also may update the AMD chipset driver too, because it come with the pcie controller driver, etc...

And monitor the cpu/gpu temp with AMD OverDrive or MSI afterburner, etc.

Don't hurt to test the RAM one by one with MemTest86 http://www.memtest86.com/download.htm
