Hi.

I bought a Toshiba Satellite C655 6 years ago. Recently, I did a system recovery of the computer. It installed the windows 7 and many try out software. I did not like these 'extra' software. So I downloaded an windows 7 home premium from an window help site,

http://getintopc.com/softwares/operating-systems/windows-7-home-premium-free-download-iso-32-bit-64-bit/

and installed on my computer. I put my product key of Toshiba in. But after the installation, a message came out "Window is not genuine", I tried to put my product key from my Toshiba sticker again, but it did not work. Is there a way to 'activate' the 'clean' version of the windows 7? Or, I have to go back to the 'bloated' original window 7 version?

Thanks for help.

Dan

may I buy another 'clean' windows 7 home premium and install on this Toshiba? How much I am looking at? I somewhere saw an MS page to pay $9.99, but it requires a government working status. I will ask my friend at government to buy one for me. But before I request my friend, could anyone answer if this is feasible?

Thanks.

Hi

Personally i would use toshiba windows then uninstall most of the Toshiba programs
They often bundle in a trial version of ms office which will remain as a restricted Word and Excel which is worth keeping

Dvd playing software may be worth keeping with a few others

Make sure if your original windows 7 includes service pack 1 or not
As different keys are used

Recently i was asked to sort out a toshiba laptop with 7 home premium and after crashing completely win 7 sp 1 Oem had been installed from scratch
But none of the toshiba device drivers

It refused to activate over the internet once i had added the wireless driver

However it offered to activate via the telephone

Telephone activation worked ok

Hi.

I have one more thought. Since I have created a recovery flash drive from my Toshiba. I also obtained a 'clean' windows 7 home premium and installed on current machine. Is it possible to compare the contents of these two copies, and find out what are the bundled software Toshiba has crammed into the recovery, then copy the 'real' windows contents from the flash drive, and make the 'clean' contents to another flash drive, use some kind of software to convert the 'new' flash drive to be a reboot drive, and install the 'clean' window?

I am pretty green to this area, please provide me with your experienced endeavor.

Thanks.
