So, my wifi adapter only supports 2.4ghz speeds, which has never been a problem. But, ever since last week my connection has been really poor and unreliable.

On games my ping is now 300 where it was 50 just a couple weeks before. I don't know what could have caused this problem, my phone works perfectly on the 5ghz connection and my adapter is fine. Right now, I've been trying to download Battlefield 1 but every 3 mins or so, the download will stop and I'll get a yellow triangle on my wifi symbol.

When I troubleshoot, it just says that it cant connect to the DNS server or something. I can fix it by disconnecting and reconnecting my wifi over and over and if I stop the download, my wifi is fine. I really want to be able to play my games right again and be able to download BF1.

I've reset the router once and it still gives me trouble. I restored it to factory defaults and everything. My firmware is up to date, too.

I'm using a TP link WN822N adapter and a Linksys Dualband router.

No, I've never had any heat problems with it. This problem just started. Maybe I should buy a new adapter that supports 5ghz and ditch the 2.4ghz that's giving me problems?
