Windows 10 Storage save locations not working?

On my laptop, I have all of my default storage locations set to my D drive (System>Storage>Save Locations). I changed the default save locations for documents, videos, music, etc to one partition (D) and all new apps save to my primary partition (C). However, when testing to see if it works by saving some files to my Documents folder rather than manually choosing the save location, it still saves the data to my C drive. Is Windows 10 storage management broken or am I doing something wrong? Would I be better off just moving the default User folder locations to my D drive? Thanks for any help!

That's not a definitive test.
You need to be able to actually see the files, by file name, on whichever drive.

I'll try that, but basically what I did was I saved a few files and checked the storage space for the D partition and it didn't increase at all. i made sure to increase at least 1MB so as to show a difference.

Ah well I did that as well. When you change the default save location it creates a User folder (by your username) on the D drive and inside of that contains my Documents folder, Music folder, Pictures folder, and Videos folder. When I access those folders via the D drive itself all the folders say "This folder is empty" but not the case if I manually navigate to the Users folder via the C drive (my files show up there).

I've used the method outlined here on several systems, incl Win 10.
Win 7 & 8: http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-1834397/ssd-redirecting-static-files.html
Win 8.1 & 10: http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-2024314/windows-redirecting-folders-drives.html

Works just fine.
