I put together a system in May and it was working fine until the system just died while my son was on it the other day.

Asus z170e mb
16 gb ram
Msi gtx 960 4gb video
I5 6500
Samsung 950 pro m.2 250gb
Win 10
Evga 550 gdx gold Ps.
No optical drives or Sata devices of any kind. It's a pretty simple system.

I bought a second evga psu and tested both psus and the fan spins up on both. I get the same behavior with both of them. The board will not post at all and the only indication of activity is a flashing green power led on the board.

I pulled out the video card and have tried a single stick of ram with just 24 and 8 pin power to no avail (same flashing green power led) I assume at this point it must be my MB or CPU? Keep in mind that the system worked without issue for months prior to this and there have been no recent hardware or software changes. I have a new MB coming tomorrow that I will try, just want to make sure I'm not missing anything dumb .

Thanks

Thanks for your thoughts, the new MB seems to have done the trick. Strange to have it die like that after 7 months but oh well. At least I have a tester now.

I have the same motherboard. Mine is about 6 months old and the other night I put the PC to sleep and ever since then haven't gotten it to boot. Monitor says no signal. I probably won't buy this mobo ever again.
