So I just got a new power supply for my old dell optiplex 780 it is an evga 400 watt. So I plugged it in and all the connectors were fine but I did notice that I needed a FOUR pin connector and I used a SIX pin because it had no four pin. I plugged in the supply unit when I was done and the computers power button just started blinking orange. I tried holding it down until it and the indicator lights went dark. I pressed the power again and it just did the same thing. Does this have to do with using the six pin in a four pin adapter?

Solution
6 pin into 4 pin?

Split the CPU 8 pin and plug in one of the 4 pins.
