Increasing AMD FX8350 Single-Thread performance?

Evening,

I normally use my computer for Flight Simulation. The simulator I use is called Prepar3D, which is a very demanding simulator.

Jumping back to 2015, I had an old prebuilt PC from Bestbuy, so I decided to build my own PC. I got an AMD FX8350, and bought a H75 cooler and OC my CPU to about 4.3GHz.

Then in December, my parents bought me a GTX 750ti. It was good, but then I switched to my current simulator, Prepar3D (P3D). So I put a GTX 1060 on the wishlist for Christmas.

P3D uses Core 0 and your GPU for the performance. Well, that SUCKS for AMD users. My 8350 has 8 cores, and I'm not really sure how to increase the performance, if you even can.

Anyone got a good way to get that Core 0 the most power?

Solution
Keep your CPU under ~60c when overclocked. 500 watts may be enough even for a large OC since you're using a low power GPU, but it depends on the brand and quality of the unit's build, not all PSUs are made equal.

For what it's worth, the i3 6100 at $110 is faster than the FX-8350 in almost all games. I don't think it's worth sinking $$$ into a system for single-digit-percent performance gains over how it is right now, given how inexpensive a real, significant upgrade over the FX is. You can probably push your chip at least 1-200mhz higher without issue, without buying any more hardware (which probably won't be reused, given that most heavily overclocked Intel chips draw less power than the FX at stock). My 2 cents: keep what you have...
You can overclock it for maybe another 5-15% single-threaded performance, but you'll also probably nearly double your power consumption and heat output. A $40 Celeron G3900 has around 50% higher single-threaded performance despite being much lower clocked, and an i3 6100 is close to twice as fast in that particular metric.

Over the stock ~4.1ghz turbo, you might expect 4.8ghz with very good cooling, maybe not that high with the H75. Assuming you get 4.6-4.7 out of it, that's 12-15% (over stock turbo). Every chip is different, but I wouldn't go spending $100+ on cooling when a $40 CPU will give you 10x the improvement.

I play other games on my PC as well so I don't think downgrading to that CPU would do me any good. Looking to see what the max temps are for the H75, and possibly upgrade my PSU. Any thoughts on that?

My 2 cents: keep what you have, wring a bit more out of it with some careful tweaking, and set aside some money for an eventual overhaul. AMD's new Ryzen CPU will be out soon and, though it's expected to still have worse single-threaded performance than Intel's current CPUs, it may provide a valuable option depending on how it's priced.

You can try to disable cores, this will lower heat output. You can then overclock by increasing voltage in small increments. TJmaxx for 4 or 6 FX cores is 90°C and FX 8 is 80°C due to AMD algorithm for calculating temperature. Try not to exceed 61.1°C on octa core or 71.1 on quad or hexa core.
Try 1.45000V VCore 22.5 multiplier for 4.5 GHz. Almost all FX 8350s are stable at that voltage and clock. Dont expect 5 GHz, very rarely people get there without using a custom loop.

Fun Fact

@Ecky

Really, dont mislead people.
10x the improvement? With a $40 Celeron? Either you are not being serious or you really gotten to the point of exaggerating facts.
Still expected to have worse IPC then Intel? Ryzen beat the 6900K, and its not even released yet, dont be so biased.
He wants to know how to improve his current build with what he has installed, people cant just be like "okay i will dispose mah rig and get what you recommended"
