CPU or mobo failure?

I've been running a computer I built and ran into some issues. The computer restarted and no visual was coming up on the monitor. Checked mobo and the CPU led was on. Tried all the regular trouble shooting steps, CPU light still comes on. I'm curious as to whether it's my mobo or my CPU or if maybe my CPU isn't receiving power, perhaps a wire or connector is bad in the 8 pin connector since the rest of the computer is receiving power.

Specs are as follows
Processor: Intel Core i5-6600k
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR4 16GB (2 x 8GB)
Graphics card: none currently running
Power supply: Corsair CSM series 450w
SDD: Crucial MX200 500GB SATA
CPU cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
Mobo: MSI Z170A gaming pro

Solution
I doubt both sticks failed at the same time, but beyond that you'll probably need parts to swap to make any progress.

I've done this. I've read elsewhere that the crucial ballistix have caused similar issues when they've failed. During my multiple reboots dram light came on twice out of 20 or so reboots. I just finished this build in march & on occasion go a month or longer without using it so it's hardly ever run. My PSU is refurbished though & looking at reviews other people have had issues with connectors going bad. I'm taking it to be tested in the morning.
