So I just finished my new pc: i7 6700k, GIGABYTE G1 Gaming GA-Z170X-Gaming 7 (rev. 1.0), G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB DDR4 3200, be quiet! DARK POWER PRO 11 850W, ASUS ROG GTX 1070 STRIX, Intel SSD 600p 512gb and a Seagate 2TB BarraCuda with Windows 7 pro. Windows does not detect any usb flash drive that I put in the computer, regardless of which slot I try be it case slots or mobo slots. Now my mouse and keyboard both work so it's not that the slots themselves don't function. My usb wifi stick also does not work in the computer, nor will the mobo detect when I plug an ethernet cable into it. Do I just need to swap this for a different mobo of the same model, or can this be fixed?

Solution
You can also use CD, that comes packaged with motherboard and contains all the drivers.

BTW - how did you install windows 7, if your USB ports are not working?
Hey there, Roshorar.

Well, it could be an issue with the mobo, but before you go for the replacement you could try a few things. You could try reinstalling the mobo associated drivers, just to see if that changes anything. You could also try resetting or updating your BIOS/UEFI and see if anything changes.

Cheers!

That's probably due to missing USB 3.0 drivers.
You can use USB 2.0 ports on the motherboard (will need USB bracket for that).

I tried the USB 2.0 headers on the front of the case and Windows still will not detect any flash drive, even though they are clearly receiving power. What can I do now?

I installed using the disk it comes with, since I couldn't get the USB drives working then for the flash drives. The weird part is that I updated my BIOS through a USB drive, so I'm not really certain what to think at this point.

Used the CD to install the USB 3 drives, after that installed a Windows 7 fix to detect nvme at https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/kb/2990941[strike]. This hasn't worked so far, so now it's on to finding the right update so that Windows 7 detects the m.2 drive[/strike] (which is an Intel 600p 512gb). JK I'm retarded and just needed to partition the drive, the update worked. The last part is cloning the Windows install to the m.2 nvme drive so I can use it as the boot drive.
