The problem is new games really require a quad core, not only that but a reasonably newer one. If you add a videocard to your system, like a 1050, you'll get much better performance on games IF the games are not very demanding on the CPU. New games, especially at high settings, tend to need a lot of CPU power.

If you play a mix of old and new games, I think a 1050 or 1050 Ti would make you happy. If you just want to play games like BF1 on high settings then even a new videocard might leave wishing you had better performance.

If you want to play high/medium you'll need to upgrade that CPU. You could probably play very low on most new games. Battlefield 1 is out of the question. I would suggest just building a brand new budget PC, which you can do for about the price of a 1070. You still won't be able to play BF 1 still but you can probably hit medium/high on most games.
