Hey there guys,

I know , i know.... spend it on an intel but i literally have two AM3 socket motherboards which are quite expensive and wish to build a desktop and sell it off. no point of letting it get dusted.

So my question is.

What AMD cpu would you recommend for mid gaming? I would most likely combine it with a GTX 750ti or GTX 960 (Maybe GTX 770).

I want to get rid of these two builds and get my self a 1070 GPU.

I have had excellent results with the x4 860k but it is a fm2 socket so that is out of the question.

Any advice guys?

The legendary 955 Deneb.

For more computing you can go with something like a 1055 Thuban, but the Deneb is probably a better choice for gaming.

I would imagine the Deneb and Thuban could handle a graphics card as powerful as a r9 380x or r9 390, much better than the 750ti.

FX 8320 is your best bet here. It is relatively cheaper than the 8350 variant but just @ a lower clock speed; it is the same processor. You can easily achieve an O/C to 4.2 GHz with a cheap after market cooler if you want to do that.

FX 8320 will make sure your GPUs up to an 960 will run to the fullest potential is almost all scenarios @ the stock speed. The only case would be CPU intensive applications like ARMA.

In conclusion, you're getting the most bang out of your buck with this AM3+ CPU.

My bad. I misread the part where he had AM3, not AM3+.
