Will an asus z170-a motherboard work with an Intel i5-6600k and 2 4gb sticks of DDR4-2400 Ballistix ram?

Yes. And a cooler as the 6600K doesn't come with one.

Yes that would work. If you plan on overclocking, that means you want better performance. I would get a 8GBx2 RAM set for a smoother performance. You can also use PCPartPicker to make sure parts are compatible.

yes all of those parts are compatible plus that mobo has the right chipset for overclocking that K series CPU. if you do not plan to overclock at all you can always save money by going with the non K version of that CPU paired with a motherboard with a H170 or H110 chipset
