Hi All;

System: Alienware 17r4 (Nov 2016 build)
128 gb SSD
1 tb HDD
6700hq
16 gb RAM

Question:
I have 3 ssd slots (m.2; 1x b+m 2280, 1x m 2280. And 1x mSATA/m.2(?) 2240ish)
I can't tell on the smaller one what the form factor is... it's got the centered retention screw and m style form factor of the m.2 rather than the two retention screws and bigger m style form factor of mSATA.

Either way, I'm trying to find the best configuration for my needs. My thoughts this far are to leave the 128 gb b+m and get a new 512 gb or 1 tb m style. I'd clone my windows to the bigger drive and leave the 128 gb drive for a Linux distro.

Is this possible/a good idea? What program could I use to clone the drive?

As far as the smaller slot, I've heard rumor that the slot is for cache storage/memory... what would it do for me to fill that spot?

Thanks!

I think I'll hold off on the RAID for now, but would it even work with two differently keyed drives (b+m and m)? Maybe I'll grab 2x 256's and do it. The 128 is too small. Are there any articles or anything regarding setting up a RAID configuration?

Thanks for the answer!
