Hello

I've actually seen two pc's with the exact same price.

one of them has :
> Intel Core i5 6400 (2.7 GHz)
> NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 8 GB GDDR5

and the other has :
> Intel Core i7 6th Gen 6700 (3.4 GHz)
> NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3 GB GDDR5

I want the pc for both gaming and also video editing and some other stuff
some of my friends told me to go with the second one because of the CPU

but I've seen a big difference between gtx 1070 and 1060 in terms of gaming performance.

So which one should I choose, and which is better for both gaming and video editing ?

Thanks on advance :)

Solution
For video editing the second one of far superior

For.gaming it depends. IMO the 6400 will hold back the 1070 at some point. Especially with CPU intensive games.

The 1060 should max any current AAA game at 1080p

Hey, thanks for your reply

So say I want to play battlefield 1, ultra settings, 60 or above fps, 1080p

is the 1060 3gb good enough ?

Gaming and production are usually on opposite ends of requirements. Most games don't really require more than 4 threads, so rely heavily on core speeds and can have intense graphical instability so a overkill gpu does much better. Basically, in most games the 6700/1060 will beat the 6400/1070 based solely on the core speeds since both gpus are capable of max 1080p game play, however, there are a good few games that can use 8 threads and are so graphically intense that even a 1070 can struggle with 1080p/60Hz.

Production is opposite. Video editing/rendering can usually easily eat up 8 threads but will work with 4,albiet slower and has very little use for the gpu. You can get 4k video playback from a 750ti, so here the 6700/1060 will dominate the 6400/1070.

So where do the priorities lie? With the editing, with most games or a select few titles? Once you figure that out, the answer gets easier. My obvious observation would be forget the pre-built, build your own with a i5-6500 and a gtx1060 6g and take the middle ground, Jack of all trades - master of none.
