Hello! I have been a long time reader, but this is my first time posting on Toms Hardware. I Recently upgraded my system that was a rundown 6 year old rig. The new system specs are
Intel 6700k CPU; Gigabyte GA-Z170x Gaming 7 Motherboard; 16GB DDR4 Corsair Vengeance Ram; Corsair 650 Watt modular power supply. I am re utilizing the old GPU 660ti and the SSD Intel 128gb and WD 1tb HDD. Both drives were reformatted and installed with fresh Windows 10. None of the old components have any previous issues.
The Experienced issue, is that when I play a game on medium or high settings, the frame rate goes from 70fps down to 30 and then finally down to 15 or lower and then the program freezes. While the program is freezing the speakers produce a tone similar to the blue screen crashing Buzz. While the game window drops to a black screen. Mouse becomes unresponsive and driver crash tones play as well. However, the system does not blue screen, given enough time and enough alt f4 pounding the system will return to the desktop. Where after a couple min the system will return to normal behavior. However any attempts to play almost any game causes the system to eventually freeze up sometimes completly. In speecy the CPU temperature does not climb above 60 degrees Celsius and the GPU does not climb above 75 degrees Celsius. I look forward to your solutions!
