Hi I just upgraded my build.

Bought an i5-6600k, gigabyte GA-170x motherboard, and 2x 8gb ddr4 ripjaw Vs
The computer turns onfor 5 seconds then turns off, then turns on again after which it turns off after a few more seconds.

I know the poroblem is not the PSU. The fans are running. I made sure the CPU, video card, and ram were seated correctly. What could be the problem?

Solution

If you have set BIOS to set CD first boot. Just place the CD inside and turn the pc ON. If that doesn't work, check that fast boot is Disabled.
Also, all motherboards have a special key in order to select boot device (in order not to change the boot priority in bios only for installation and then changing it...

Okay I was able to POST after seating the RAM jam shut in the 1st slot. Apparently other owners of this mobo confirmed that the ddr4 ram has to be pushed in the the other side of the slot AFTER You hear the click since the force causes it to push upwards. Now My question is how to get my windows 7 installed Using BIOS. My CD/Rom drive is set to boot first and I have the install disc inside. How do I select the disc in BIOS?

Also, all motherboards have a special key in order to select boot device (in order not to change the boot priority in bios only for installation and then changing it back). In my case, an Asus motherboard is F8. For Gigabyte seems to be F12.

Did you remember to remove the label (if there was one) from the cooling fan/CPU contact surface? Did you apply themal paste to the CPU before you installed the cooling fan? If you didn't the CPU will heat up quickly and the temperature sensor in the mother board will shut the system down.

Unless its defective I agree; nice PSU. I assume you are using new power cables and that the house AC circuit is not overloaded. BTW, you can put a power meter to measure watts or amps used; I ran such on my tower with a Corsair Gold 750 a while back and it showed about 100 watts or less most of the time.
