Toshiba Satellite Radius Design Flaw

I purchased a Toshiba Satellite laptop about 10 months ago from Best Buy. I was happy with this PC until the LCD display started to delaminate from the top lid. The display starts to separate from the top lid down by the plastic hinges, because of the friction from the hinge while closing the top. When I looked at the display model at Best Buy, it has the same problem only worse. Obvious design flaw, that they do not want you to know about. I have been in contact with Toshiba, and only get the royal run around. They must have the WORST customer service that I have ever seen. They want me to pay $40 to send it in to them, but I am afraid I will not see the laptop again or they tell me they will not cover under warranty, based on their terms and conditions. They tell you to take pics and email to them, but NEVER get any response. I will NEVER buy a Toshiba product again, they lost me as a good customer. Beware of their products! How many other people have this problem?

Toshiba is never a quality solution. And they arn't the only ones who have run into hinge issues as well. My dell e1505 had a major failure point where the strong hinge was connected to the lcd plate by 2 pieces of metal that were connected by 3 spot weld points. Luckly someone posted a fix which just required drilling some new screws into it. That was ages ago though. My asus which upgraded it has no such hinge issues and is just as strong as it was on day one. My guess is the custom 360 hinge they used simply faild the test of time. This is one of the things you need to watch out for in a laptop that features a new technology.

I got the courage to send my Toshiba Satellite laptop into customer repair facility in Jeffersonville IN. I had to pay my own shipping. Toshiba wanted me to pay $40 for their box, which was a rip. I was surprised with their 2 day repair time at this facility, then sent it back to me. They replaced the top cover and everything looks good right now. Hopefully it does not have the same problem in the future by opening and closing the lid. I am happy at the moment, but their customer service in India still sucks.
