Dear Tom's HARDWARE community,
Let me first give you an overview of my PC and secondly introduce you to my problem.
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @2.67Hz 2.00 GHz
Installed memory (RAM) 6.00 GB DDR3 @539MHz
Graphics Card: Nvidia GTX 470
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1
Motherboard: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. X58A-UD3R
Storage: 931GB Samsung Hd103SJ ATA device
Story:
I've had this PC for quite some time now (maybe 7 years or so). Never really had any problems until two days ago. When I started up my PC, I got a blue screen, also there were some weird dots and (horizontal) stripes on my screen during startup. After some more annoyance, I decided to reinstall Windows 7 (that's what I usually do -> You understand how unskilled I am at these matters). After reinstalling, the stripes still appeared on my windows 7 background (standard blue background) and when you mouse-over it, it disappears but soon again comes back. Ok, so I install the drivers of my motherboard, no problem. Then when I install the drivers of my graphics card and it asks me to restart the pc. At first, no problem, then when you get to the part where 4 balls appear and merge into the windows emblem (Starting WIndows) it freezes (nothing happens from then on).
I am quite clueless what to do from here, since I am a university student and my life depends on this PC for doing assignments etc.
I hope that you people have the patients and willingness to help me.
