I need help with choosing which power supply to buy for my build.

-MSI 970 Gaming AMD 970 (Socket AM3+) ATX Motherboard

-Phanteks Eclipse P400S Window Silent Black Mid Tower Case

-AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8350 4.00Ghz (Socket AM3+) Processor

-Kingston HyperX Fury Black 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit

-Phanteks PH-F140SP LED Green 140mm Case Fan

-Arctic Cooling Freezer A32 Silent CPU Cooler with 120mm Fan

I'm completely new to building a PC, never heard of the terms before today and not even sure if these parts are compatible with one another, but hopefully someone can clarify that for me as well. Thanks for the help in advance!

You can see from the chart linked to below that the single threaded performance of Intels are much better than the current AMD processors. This is a big factor for gaming. Single thread performance is basically how much "work" a core can do per clock cycle. Even though some AMD's are clocked higher, they can't do as much "work" because Intel's advantage is so great. This is due to a much more efficient architecture.

XFX Radeon RX 480 GTR with Hard Swap Fans 8GB Graphics Card

I will mainly be using it for gaming but it will also be my primary computer for the usual internet browsing and microsoft packages. And i will be buying all of this from novatech.co.uk i think, unless i find a cheaper site.

my budget is around, £600-700 but willing to go over it.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Hey! Iv been told by a few people that intel cant stand up to AMD? if this is the case, what is the best AMD processor, if the FX- 8 isnt worth it?

again, sorry for my ignorance

Agree with SR-71, you would be better off with an Intel build. Better gaming performance and future upgrade options.

Thank you, this has been a great help! i just have a few more questions

1- you suggested a micro ATX motherboard, rather than the ATX i chose? is micro better? would the one i chose not work?

2- will windows 10 will run alright with this build?

3- and finally, what tools will i need in the actual building of this PC? i would like buy them before the parts come
