Hello!

This is my first post so I don't know if this post is in the correct category, but anyway, hello!

Recently, my IPS upgraded my internet speed to 1000/100mbps which is crazy fast. But when I'm downloading things such as games on Steam or Origin, the internet speed is only 20mbps tops! I did some research and came up to my internet should be able to download at 125mb per second. But atm it's only 20mb per second. How can I fix this?

I tried to "OpenDNS" and google how to make steam faster and so on, but nothing worked. Can someone please help me? Thanks!

I never watch linked youtube videos. It is full of dick waving idiots bragging about themselves. Way to many just trying to get hits on their videos so they get money.

Few if any use any scientific methods. It really means nothing it is purely isolated piece of data. There is no way to infer that something some random youtube guy gets means anything....other than they like to brag about it.

Still what can you do. You need to check that your machine can really transfer at higher speeds by transferring between machines in your house. After that what....you call the isp and...
If you are getting 20mbyte/sec that is still extremely fast. I would suspect the site has a artificial limitation on the download speed. It prevent people like you that have extremely fast connections from using up all the bandwidth the provider has. It is not like they have unlimited bandwidth.

Try microsoft and download something like the win10 image. Microsoft tend to have the fastest connection I know of.

Yea, but for example, if I'm downloading through uTorrent, will there be a limit there aswell?

torrent should have less of a limitation since you are feeding from multiple locations. The problem is each of those location even if they had connections like yours is limited to 100mbit upload rates and connections like yours are not common.

You could I suppose down load a files from a bunch of locations all the same time and see how much you get.

Then again if it doesn't get the speeds the ISP will always play the "UP TO" exception on you. There likely is only 1g of bandwidth shared between you and all the other people who live in the neighborhood. You have to remember that the connection speed between ISP many times has only been recently upgraded to speeds like 10g. There are bottlenecks all over the place. The numbers ISP are quoting are mostly marketing fluff.

I suppose you could call up the youtube guy and ask if you can move into his house.
