Okay so I just built my first gaming pc and it starts up and everything and when it starts up that quote pops up on the monitor. Now my computer is a Gigabyte Ultra Durable. I have looked at all of the youtube videos on this issue and they all say the same thing, to check the wires and go to the Operating System and set the main Hard Drive to priority one. I did both of these and the same messag still pops up. I have to press Ctrl + Alt + Delete and it takes me to the main screen and I press F12 and it takes me to the booting system. At first the first booting priority was the DVD or DISC hard drive and my main hard drive which is a WDC WD10EZEX-08WN4A0 (a WD Blue PC Hard Drive). So after messing around in the operating system and putting the priority and first option of the boot setup to my main hard drive I click exit and save changes and restart and it takes me back to the same screen with the Reboot and Select proper Boot Device thing. Now I checked if the wires for my Hard Drive were pressed in all the way but I they are since the computer obviously detects it. I do not know what else to do and I'm very stressed out. I know the hard drive isn't faulty or anything since it detects it right? I spent over 4 months just saving money to buy this thing and even had to RMA the mobo and the RAM so it has been a long time and now this? I hope one of you guys will help me fix my problem. This website always helps me and I hope this will be my last time here. Thank you and Happy Holidays if you believe in that.

Hello... Sounds like you build was successful, since you can get your BIO's screen... Now you need to "Insert Bootable Media" the OS install media, to install the OS to the HD.

If you don't have any? then you need to create/DL it, using another Computer system, connected to the internet.

What OS do you plan to use with this computer?

OK... Calm...

When you loaded the OS from the DVD, did it ask you which device to load onto? Was it the Drive you installed.

If all else, boot back to the DVD, do not force a BIOS change to drive, do the F12 temp boot change. Run the install. From DVD onto a HDD it should take close to an hour or so, at least. Make sure you fully reset the HDD and let it do a full install, reformat and all.

It is easy to get frustrated. Been there, done that...

Operating System. The software that makes you PC actually run.
I'm assuming you wish to use Windows? If so, then you need to buy one. It doesn't automagically come with your hardware.

Something like this:
Amazon $90 - https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Windows-Home-System-Builder/dp/B00ZSI7Y3U
Newegg $99 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832416892
Microsoft $120 - https://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/en_US/cat/categoryID.70036700?=en_US_Store_UH_software_Win

Wait I still have the Gigabyte Ultra Durable DVD or Disc that the mobo came with, are you talking about this? Should I put it in? And then what do I do?

Im going to tell you everything I bought for this PC my dude. Motherboard, Case, HardDrive WD Blue, Graphics Card, RAM, CPU and Power Supply and we used the Disk Drive from our old PC. The OS doesnt come with any of this? Because how am I able to edit the Priority for the hard drive?

I don't suppose you could inform us of which Operating System was in the old PC?
Windows of some flavor?
Win 7? Win 8.1? Win 10?

Do we have any inkling?

OK...
A hard drive, from your old system, with Win 7 on it, installed in your new PC....almost certainly will not boot up.
As you have seen.

This is quite often the outcome.
You will have to do a full clean install of the OS.
And that being Windows 7, it was almsot certainly an OEM license. And as such, that license is not transferrable to new hardware.

Ergo, you need to purchase a new OS for your new PC.
See my links above.

Don't lead him to installing Win 10 Pro. That is almost certainly not the OS he will end up with.

okay sorry but you're confusing the hell out of me. I thought this was suppose to be a minor problem that I can fix easily but you're now saying I need to buy new Disc Drive and stuff. Isnt the error that I am recieving have to do with the Hard Drive not the Disc Drive ? Correct me if I'm mistaken but I think you're confused because isn't a Disc Drive optional for a computer and you may be talking about the HDD/HardDrive ? I've searched all over the internet and it says the problem with this error is the HDD which I bought brand new on the internet no more than 2 months ago.

What I'm saying is that the hard drive and the OS from your old PC will not automatically boot up with your new PC.

The issue is not the physical drive, but rather the operating system on that drive.
The drive is fine. But you need to do a clean install of the OS on this hard drive.

Windows is very finicky about what hardware it is installed with. The motherboard, etc. Very often, you just can't move a drive like that between systems. This is one of those times.
So, this will require a clean install with a Windows 7 DVD. Or Windows 10, or whatever.

That covers the 'operation' phase. Or non-operation, in this case.

The second part is the licensing and activation.
Windows requires one to purchase a license. Very often, this comes as part of a new PC you buy from the store. So most people don't think about it.
However, in building a new PC, you do not have this.

And the 'license' from your old PC is almost certainly not transferable to your new PC.
Thus, you need to buy an OS license for your new system. It will be about $100.

Okay well you were saying DISC Drive so I was getting confused because I'm sure there is a difference. My Hard Drive that I have at the moment is NOT from my old PC. My DISC Drive is from my old PC. And I purchased my Hard Drive that I have at the moment no more than 2 months ago so it is NOT from my old PC. Now I have a question, when you purchase the Hard Drive does it tell you what Windows it comes with? Because I do not remember if it did and if it did which Windows it even came with but if it DOES then I will immediantly go check what Windows it came with as soon as I see your reply.

Apparently, this statement threw me off:
"...and we used the Disk Drive from our old PC."

I had assumed that you were speaking of the hard drive from your old system.

So, to recap...
You build a new system. The DVD drive came from your old system
Correct so far?

This new pile of parts includes a new WD Blue hard drive.
Correct so far?

And upon starting up, you see the message:
"Reboot and select proper boot device or Insert Boot Media in Selected Boot Device and press a key"

Correct?

And you have no Windows 7 DVD in the DVD drive.
Correct?
--------------------
If the above is all correct....then yes, you will see exactly what you are seeing.
It is telling you that it cannot find an OS to boot from.

When you purchase a hard drive, the WD BLue...it does not come with an operating system. It is a blank drive.

If I am incorrect on any of the above, please tell me.
