I am wanting to swap from the Asrock fm2axx8+btc with the AMD A10 5800K cpu. i want to get the AMD FX-8350 with the Asrock 970 Pro3 R2.0... I know how to swap the hardware but is there anything else required to run it?

You will probably (most likely) have to do a clean OS install. The old OS installation has drivers and registry entries associated with the old motherboard. To get rid of that you have to do an OS install.
