Hi all, I'm building a z170 system, and am planning on putting a m.2 pciex4 X4 SSD in it as a boot/programs drive. I'm just wondering if I put a sound card in it as well, will it a) Slow the graphics card (1080) to pcie3 x8, or b) Slow the SSD or change it to SATA3 speed? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

^ That depends on the board you're using and how the manufacturer has wired the lanes on the board to react when a particular device is plugged into it. Might I ask what your full system's specs are looking like at this point? Include the M.2 drive and we'll be able to deduce if the lanes will end up being shared.

* M.2 operates by taking 2 SATA ports thus their lanes are assigned to the M.2 slot. It's either an M.2 drive or two SATA ports if they are wired to each other. Same goes for the PCI-E slots.
