Hi all,

Just yesterday I replaced my old motherboard with a new one because I was said that it failed / was defective. Once I put a new one in the PC was back up and running but still very slow, I decided to wipe the hard drive with dban which took hours and then I set up a windows on it (7 Ultimate 64bit). Even after all that it is highly laggy, imagine as if you had a 1$ PC, that bad. I'm not sure one what could be the problem but I'm very certain that's it has to do with the hardware, this problem was even before my old motherboard failed, everything was very laggy.

My PC specs are:

Geforce 650 ti boost (asus)

intel core i5 4570k quad core

8gb ram (2x4gb)

Gigabyte motherboard lga 1150 (Really doesnt matter its brand new)

500w CX power supply

1tb hard drive

Much thanks

A) Please define "laggy".
B) Who said the motherboard failed?
C) Just from your description it sounds more like a hard drive issue. Their performance WILL degrade over time. Do you have a spare HDD to try?

Sorry about that,

I sent for a diagnostic check at geek squad, they said the motherboard was defective.

Laggy as in fps, playing video games is very limited - the screen freezes for a whole second every second. Watching YouTube videos is also fps-laggy.

Sadly, I do not have a spare hard drive though it was my guess too, because if the motherboard is new, its not the MB, its not the power supply, and i tested the two ram sticks individually - clean. I'm not sure about the CPU and Graphics card but somebody told me defective CPU is known as blue screens which I don't have, and the PC wont tun with a defective graphics card (correct me if I'm wrong).

Thanks for trying to help me!!

FYI: 99% of Geek Squad are retards. I'm actually surprised they were able to install your new motherboard successfully.

What games are you playing? Are you playing online? Because if online games and YouTube are the only things "laggy", then that sounds like a network/internet connection issue.

You said you just installed a clean copy of Windows. Did you get the directly from geforce.com? It is possible to run with a defective graphics card but you would more likely get error messages, crashing, artifact images, etc. If it was a completely failed card then you wouldn't get any image at all.

Should be 30-40 Celsius when idle (I have the same CPU) .

GPU you would have to look up the manufacturer of the card for specs.

1) Geek squad are retarded assholes 100% agreed
2) How do I check the tempratures for CPU and GPU?
3) I installed the new motherboard myself (Geek squad wanted 100$ for installing and 300$ for the mother board itself when i got one for 50$ off of amazon shipped to my door in 2 days - brand new)

And I forgot to mention, the game is Counter Strike GO, I have no internet lagging what so ever just fps lagging - screen freezes for like a seconds every second looping.

Also I keep getting alerts from norton "High disk usage:" and then it says the program I'm using, ex: "High disk usage from Google Chrome", or "High disk usage from CSGO.EXE" etc etc...

The drivers are from the CD's that come with the parts, I also have nvidia experience installed.

The temprature for the cpu package is 100 degrees C (this concerns me)
And for the gpu its 37 degrees C

Get the latest driver first. Also very important are Windows updates. Even if the "Windows Update" applet in the control panel says it's up to date, click "check for updates" anyway. Also turn the Norton performance monitor off. "Sizzling" may be right about the heat but I would try the drivers and system updates first. HDD still a possibility.

Don't use the disk. Also, did you forget to put new thermal grease on the CPU when installing it?

I didn't put much thermal grease (just a lil bit)
