So I'm so new to these kind of things, but. I have an old GPU (AMD HD 6570) wich is I guess PCIe x16 and I wanted to ask you if my motherboard can run a GTX 1070 GPU.

MB : Asus M5A78L USB 3

Solution
Yes it will work but the motherboard will bottleneck the 1070's potential. It has a PCIE 2.0 (x16) slot to install the card into but the card is PCIE 3.0 (the newest PCIE revision).

Hmm. Okay. Thanks for reply :>
I will look after a new MB
Will this Motherboard be good for GTX 1070 ?

GIGABYTE 990X-Gaming SLI

And also will 1070 fit in this case ?

NZXT S340

For the Gigabyte 990X - same thing. It's PCIE slots are revision 2.0. Look for a newer board. Pretty much any new one from newegg.com will have at least one PCIE 3.0 slot. So, just look for it in the specifications.

For the case size. It depends which 1070 you get. GTX 1070 is just a reference. Third party companies design and produce the actual card (Asus, MSI, EVGA, etc.) Just look for the dimensions in the specs and compare with the dimensions of the case. Shouldn't be an issue with any mid size or larger tower. Best to check though.

So I found this MB

GIGABYTE Z170-Gaming K3

Seems like it has a PCIe 3.0

And the GPU I want is

GTX 1070 MSI GAMING X (27,xx cm )

That's an Intel board. The ones you listed previously are AMD. The socket will have to be compatible with your CPU.

You can get the dimensions of your case right from NZXT's site. It even lists the GPU clearance dimensions specifically.

Same for the card. Or newegg lists the dimensions under the specs tab as well.
