Hey,

So I just upgraded my GPU from the R9 270X to the GTX 1060 3GB version because I thought that the 270X just wasn't a very good card : I was getting frequent lag and poor performance across most of my games.

When I finally got my new card, I noticed I still had the exact same issues.

Battlefield 4, for example, should run at around 90+ FPS on ultra, however I'm getting 40-50 max.

Same thing for Edge of Nowhere, where I got frequent stuttering.

I finally decided to dig in a little deeper to find the core of the issue, and I found out that my CPU is consistently at above 80 °C, even when idle. When in game the temperature will be around 99°C.

I've tried clearing the CMOS, althought I've never overclocked anything, and it didn't do much.

Maybe there isn't enough thermal paste? My fan spins like it should, by the way, and the rest of the case is also fine. Only the CPU is way too hot.

Maybe I should just replace the stock cooler?

Any advice?

Hmm, the pins weren't exactly all in place, and it's a lot better now, thanks!

However, I'm still sitting at around 60 °C idle and 100 °C in game, but performance is the same as other people who have a GTX 1060.

Thanks a lot!
