So... my mum asked me what I wanted for Christmas and I knew that my CPU was really slow. So I asked my mum if she could buy me an AMD ATHLON X4 845.
so I was super excited as I currently have an
AMD A4 6300
and I recently bought an r7 240 to go with it which runs fine.
So Christmas day Came and I got my new CPU and I installed it into my PC and my monitor screen was black.
My PC wouldn't start and I was so confused, so I done some research and I thought maybe my PSU was the problem as I knew my motherboard was compatible with the CPU. Can I have some help pls, I'm confusing sending the CPU back is this needed?

Defective CPUs are extremely rare. I'd investigate other possibilities first. Could you describe how you went about changing the CPU? Did you do it yourself, have a friend do it, repair shop?
Did you update your Mobos Bios to the latest version? Have you tried resetting bios to optimized defaualt? Clear CMOS? Any issues fitting the CPU into the socket or attaching the cooler?

Yeah I changed the CPU myself and I just took put my old CPU and the fan and installed my new one that's pretty much it, I managed to change my cmos battery and I reset my BIOS bit in not quite sure how to update them.
