Hey everyone,

I have a System76 Desktop PC with an Asus X99 motherboard and i7 5820k CPU and 32 gb ddr4 ram. I just got a new job where I'm at a desk all day and now want a laptop for home use.

Is there a motherboard designed for laptops that is designed to be compatible with the i7 5820k?

I've never built a laptop before. If possible I would like to transplant my CPU, RAM, and hard drive into a laptop. Ideally, I'd be able to order a case that already has a compatible motherboard installed and has a screen, USB ports, hdmi, etc.

Thanks!

It's not possible, the 5820k generates way too much heat to be able to be fit into a laptop form factor, and uses so much power that the battery life would be atrocious if it was put in a laptop.

You typically don't build laptops, they're really only available prebuilt. The best laptop CPU available right now if the i7 6700HQ, which is basically the i7 6700k with a lower base clock so it uses less power. Unless you want to buy a laptop, all you can do to get away from your desk would be to hook your desktop up to a TV and try to use it from a couch.
