Which component should I upgrade next in my gaming PC?

Hello everybody, I'm pretty knowledgeable with computers but I'm not sure what I should upgrade next. Thanks in advance for helping me!

My Current Specs:
Case - RAIDMAX SMILODON
MB - AS Rock Z75 Pro 3
CPU - i7 2600k @ 3.4GHz
GPU - GeForce GTX 970
PSU - CORSAIR CX750M
RAM - 8GB
SSD - Samsung 850 EVO 500 GB
HDD - 1 TB Internal & 2 TB External

Maybe, however the GTX 1080 is a) $200 over your budget and b) hilariously overkill for 1080p at 60Hz ; your monitor will be unable to output more than 60 FPS and the 1080 can have hundreds easily ; it's wasted power.
GTX 1080 is more suited to a 1440p monitor.

GTX 970 / 1060 are perfect 1080p gaming cards ; GTX 1070 is a high FPS card.

How much are you willing to spend?
I have about $400 at the moment, but I am willing to save up more

What resolutions do you game on?
1080p (Monitor is only 1080p, 5ms, and 60Hz. Maybe I should get a better monitor in that case)

Why do you think, you need to upgrade?
I usually want to run games on the highest settings, or as close as I can, while still getting at least 60 fps which is getting a little harder to do as video games graphics keep advancing.
