Windows 10, new Intel i7-7790, Asus Hero 6 mb, new EVGA Geforce gtx 1070 gpu, new Samsung evo SSD, WD green HD.

The above new items were installed in a functioning desktop. After powering up, it will not connect to my router or the internet. I have removed the adaptor and rebooted, no luck. Windows is on my WD green HD. We would eventually like to have it on the SSD. It is for gaming.

Any suggestions how to get this system back talking to the internet so I can download any required drivers?

Thank you,

I have reset them 50 times, okay I am exaggerating. So, I have done lots of troubleshooting. I have reset the netsh stuff under command prompt admin, I have downloaded from asus the driver for the onboard network card, I have verified everything is good up to the problem pc with wires. I have disabled the netbios. No change with the internet connection....

I am rather embarrassed. I mistyped and the cpu is a i7-4790k. I have chosen to just order up an ethernet card to try out. I will let you all know if that worked so we can close my issue. Thanks again for being helpful Scout_03.

One thing I did notice is that ASUS shows bios 1504 for that cpu, but I already have 1505. Should I reflash to the 1504 bios or leave it alone?

Reboot all modem/router. I typically do all first, to check to see if it has a static IP.

Go to:
run type: cmd
ipconfig /all
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

Also if you power cycle your router, it should flush the DHCP, which assigns IP addresses.

HI all,

So, I received a new oem intel EXPI9301CTBLK network adapter today. Installed it, used windows 7/64 drivers as Intel shows NO windows 10 drivers. I rebooted the PC. I rebooted the Netgear router. I released all the IP things and renewed them on the command prompt. It shows the exact problem as the built in ethernet adaptor on the motherboard. After windows troubleshooting, it says "Ethernet 2" doesn't have a valid IP configuration.

So, my narrowing of the issue is as follows:

good internet connection at the jack that plugs into either ethernet port
have tried two different network adaptors
have tried all the resets and renews on the command prompt.
When I do an ipconfig I get Ethernet adapter : Ethernet"Media state.... media disconnected., connection-specific DNS suffix... blank,
Ethernet adapter Ethernet 2: connection-specific DNS suffix... blank, Link-local IPv6 address.... fe80::1465:2862:5c3f:f992%10, Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address...169.254.249.xxx, subnet mask... 255.255.0.0, default gateway... blank.
Tunnel adapter {long code letter} with media state... media disconnected and no connection-specific DNS suffix.

So, again I am using windows 10/64 and replaced the cpu, gpu, and added a ssd. when we started up the system, we got the yellow triangle over the ethernet symbol bottom right.

Could this be a motherboard issue or a Windows 10 issue is where I am at now. Thanks for your help everyone!

So, after reading a bit more on my issue, I decided to bite the bullet and reinstall, gulp, Windows 10. Luckily, I had done a system backup prior to this escapade. I reinstalled it. Reinstalled it on the SSD, after unplugging the HD. Low and behold, the yellow triangle is gone. My onboard network adapter works normal.

Moral of the story is that if you cannot get the network adapter to connect and you have tried to reset it, done an ipconfig with a 169.xxx.xx IPv4, released and renewed the ip address and still have the yellow triangle, then you possibly will need to reinstall Windows 10.
