Before I share my question I just want to let you know that I have never oveclocked a cpu before and I'm definitely not an expert. So my motherboard (MSI 970 Gaming) has a setting that allows you to give a slight (0.5GHz) oc to your cpu, that setting is OC Genie and when enabled my pc fans go crazy, we are talking 100% maxed and I cannot stand the noise they make. Should I try to turn them down a little or that is kinda risky for my CPU's temp ?

Solution

36C is completely normal, nothing to worry about. The fans shouldn't be spinning at 100% at 36C, so as I said if you can adjust the fan curve in the BIOS.

It depends on what your CPU temps are. Do you mean 500MHz/0.5GHz? Because 0.5MHz isn't possible, or will have zero effect.

If your idle temps don't exceed 40C, turn the fan speeds down a bit. Adjust the fan curve in the BIOS so the fans spin at certain speeds at certain times.

Oh yeah I meant 0.5GHz it was just a typo. Umm when idle my cpu is around 25-38 celcius. When I overclocked it in the bios it went 12 celcius up (from 24 in bios it went to 36 in bios) and I was afraid to boot windows. (the fans were 100%). Thanks for the help. I'll try again.
