Can I connect to my wireless printer using a router?

I am thinking of buying a wireless printer, but before that, my desktop does not have any wireless capabilities (no bluetooth / wifi) and is connected to the router using an ethernet cable. If I were to buy a wireless printer, would I be able to print any documents considering that both the computer as well as the printer is connected to the router?

If it helps, my wired network does not read as the same name connected by Wifi devices around my house. Instead, the network on my desktop reads as Network 2.

Thanks in advance, guys.

Truly depends on the model. I always recommend downloading the latest drivers. You never know how old the printer is. If you are getting an inkjet, chances are, it has the ability to be able to setup wirelessly. Before you...
You can print as long you are on the same network as the printer.
If both the printer and your pc is connected to the same router then yes you can print from your pc provided to added the printer on your desktop.
Your wired network name would never match whatever your wireless network is named.

The answer is yes. As long as your computer is connected to your router via Ethernet, and your printer is connected to your router wirelessly, it's still considered on the same network. I have the same setup. My printer is opposite my desk, and is just plugged up. I can print from my desktop (which has no Wifi/Bluetooth) since it is still on the network. As well as other devices connected to the router.

You may need to buy a USB Type-B cable to connect your computer for first setup. This is necessary so the computer can tell the printer how to connect router. Some printers may come with one, but my Brother Laser printer did not. Ended up using the USB cable from my microphone.

Not necessary as most modern wifi printers are able to setup wireless now.

This is true. However, not all, like my laser printer. It was not able to setup wirelessly. Not sure why though. I got it earlier this year. Then again, I always keep a cable around, just in case.

When you say setup, can't I just download the drivers off the internet or from the included CD? Must I plug the printer in to the computer? And also does this mean that if my printer does not provide wireless setup, I'll have to connect every single computer using a USB Type-B cable once before I can start printing?
