Im building a new computer and I only bought a SSD to go along with it.I don't have a optical drive,so i'm going to install windows 10 using a usb.I have a 1Tb hard drive on my old computer which is running windows 7.I want to know if I can just plug the hard drive in and it will work or do i have to do something else?
Also the system i want to run at the end is windows 10

This drive with Win 7 will be just a secondary drive? And you plan to wipe it?
Sure.

If you plan to try to boot from that existing Win 7, probably not.

Define 'files'.

Applications? No.
Doc/Music/Video? Sure.

Yeah its Pics/docs/video.Installing games and applications is not a problem but will i have to delete them off the previous drive and then just plug it in or will they just be delete off the drive when i plug it in?

They won't automatically be deleted.

The best way to do this is to move anything you want to keep off to another location. Another drive, 'the cloud'...somewhere else.
Then wipe the entire drive, and move that stuff back.
