I got an Intel Core I7-6700 processor for christmas and I want to replace my old AMD processor. To do this I need a motherboard that has an LGA 1151 Socket. It can be either ATX or mATX. I also currently have DDR3 ram not DDR3L or DDR4. So if there is a good reliable motherboard that has an LGA 1151 socket AS well as DDR3 Ram support please let me know. Im not against buying DDR4 memory, so please let me know if there are any good and reliable motherboards that have the LGA 1151 socket and DDR4 support. If you do suggest that I get DDR4 Ram what is some good ram, I think about 8gb is fine. Lastly because I'm upgrading my current motherboard does that mean my Windows OS will be gone? Will all my data and settings be wiped? And will I have to buy a whole new copy of windows? Or is there someway I can deactivate windows on my old motherboard and reactivate it on my new one? If so how?
