I'm pulling my hair out on this...I've never had issues like this before...
I have an i5 based PC running on a Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H with an Intel Z77 Chipset. It has an onboard Intel HD4000 Graphics chipset with both an HDMI and DVI output. I have had no issues running two monitors on this as is. Now I need to add another two monitors, so I added a new Nvidia Gforce GT-730 PCIe card to the system. I don't have any heavy graphics processing needs, just need to be able to view things from multiple locations.
I could only ever get either the Nvidia or Intel displays working at once. Never both. I found conflicting info about whether or not both graphics cards can be used at the same time. Figuring on trying to disable the onboard graphics and use two PCI cards, I purchased another Nvidia card...except there was only a x1 PCIe slot available so I got an Nvidia Gforce GT710 card (the other one was a x16 card).
Note, the bios of the motherboard allows me to enable or disable the onboard graphics, indicate which video card to initialize first (Auto, IGFX, PEG, PCI) PEG is the graphics card installed in the first x16 slot.
So far, I have tried every possible combination and option I could think of and can't get anything to work! I've disabled the internal graphics and tried only both PCI cards. The monitors all start up but turn black right after the windows startup screen shows up. I've tried the win-P hotkey to switch displays but that does nothing. At one point, I saw a cursor on 3 of the 4 screens...all duplicated, not extended.
I've reconfigured it to get it running again on the internal graphics, removed all of the graphics drivers and tried again. Still nothing.
Another interesting thing is that the hard disk light is lit almost solid. When I reconfigure it to get the internal graphics working again, once it boots up, the drive light is back to normal (standard access light, not solid).
At this point, I'm getting so frustrated that I'm ready to just buy a new motherboard with more slots or something. ANY help would be greatly appreciated!...Thanks for your time.
