I've read that if you don't wipe your system, then you will have issuses when switching sockets. I have A LOT of stuff on my PC and it will take forever to redownload and setup everything to the way I had it before. Any ideas on how i can switch without having to completely wipe all my games and etc off?

There is no 'method'.
Either it works or it doesn't.

Prepare for if it does not boot with the new hardware.

What OS is this?

Windows 10.

For all new hardware, a clean install is the recommended way forward.

You might get lucky and have it actually work without a full reinstall. Maybe.
No guarantees.
Prepare for if you do need to do a full reinstall.

Also, the activation status will almost certainly fail.
Read and do this before changing any hardware: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-3164428/windows-build-1607-activation.html
