As said in the title both my disc drives are not functioning. Windows 7 recognises them both yet they do not read discs nor recognise that any are inside them.
I've tried reinstalling both of their drivers to no avail.
One is a Liteon Blueray the other is a Samsung DVD/RW.
Any help would be appreciated, both drivers stopped working at the same time and I have no idea what to do to get them working.
Cheers

If Windows is recognizing them, it probably isn't a driver issue.
-Have you tried multiple disks in each drive?
-I would also take some compressed air and blow it inside to see if the lasers are covered in dust. (Best bet right here)
-Other possibility is to check for firmware updates for the drives on the manufacturers website.
-Check the cables for the drives.

Can confirm I've tried a few different discs, both DVD and CD.
Drivers are up to date, and cables are well plugged in.
I'm going to see about blowing some air in, but I don't have any compressed air handy atm.

Discs have been DVD's for game installation but since I discovered the issue I've tried DVD movies and audio CDs too to no avail. Software was just windows explorer. Cables are secure too.

I do have Daemontools... But I swear it worked after installing it, to be completely honest I'm not 100% sure it did. I checked the location of this 'upper/lowerfilters' registry online and the same location on my PC has neither upper nor lower filters.

Dbl click on the entry in device manager Go to the details tab. Look for class lower filter. Does it say iastorf?

And is there a class upper filter here? If there is what's that say?

I bet this prob has something to do with Daemontools tho.

So you went here in the registry?

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Went into device manager and the drop down menu has neither upper nor lower class filter :/
And yes that's the registry location I had a look at. I'll see if uninstalling Daemon tools fixes anything.

Update:
I now have a 'LowerFilters' in my registry but in the following;
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{71A27CDD-812A-11D0-BEC7-08002BE2092F}, however uninstalling DaemonTools has not made my drives act any differently, they still don't read.
Still nothing here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

It says 'Storage Volumes'
I've never installed Acronis Trueimage on my PC unfortunately.

Sorry Paul, I haven't had time to over the past few days. Just tried that program. The below image is a screencap of what you asked for.

Hmm that part doesnt tell us much

What if you right mouse on them and select open in regedit??

See if one of the device entries is different from the others (I cant do it here to see what it says, there's no bays on this. So cant install any dvd's)

I could check it out with teamviewer if you want. I' could check it out from here to see where the prob is

If you want me to check it out get teamviewer and send the id and password it gives you to me in a PM

Dont worry you'll see what I'm doing

Alright I just checked out regedit, I've attached the files the 5 registries from earlier correspond to.
The top 3 are the blue-ray drive and the bottom two are the dvd drive. The only differences I could see were in the 'locationinformation' value. For the blue ray the top was Channel 4, and bottom two were Channel 5. The dvd was 4 for top and 5 for bottom.
I don't have team viewer but I'm happy to download it if you think it'll help.

UPDATE: Forgot to attach the screencaps ahah
