Just got a 1060 and a 750W Psu for Christmas, I pretty sure installing everything correctly. I'm not using a monitor I am using an HD TV, my old 750 TI was hooked up with a DVI cord but the gtx 1060 will not fit with this dvi cord.
A lot of my friends say if I plug in an HDMI cord into the graphics card that should be fine, which I did, but the monitor is getting a lit black screen, its getting signal.

Also to mention when I hook up my 750 ti everything works fine.

Do I need to buy a new DVI cord that fits?

You mean like setting the monitor to HDMI with my remote? If so I made sure of that

It works for my laptop just not on PC. Not the GPU or even the motherboard HDMI plug in

You can also try making sure your gpu is installed fully, sometimes is takes heavy pressure to make sure the card clicks in.

I'm sure it's fully pushed in, the LED lights and fans turn on.
Another thing is the monitor will say "no signal" but in 10-15 seconds or so the screen turns black do i have to install something BEFORE putting in the 1060 for the HDMI to stream to the monitor

I read it, but i'm just not to sure how I can change a GPU's setting to match with a HDTV if the screen won't turn on whiles it's plugged in
