My old ram has died, I only have 4gb left and I am looking into purchasing some new ram. My old ram was 1866MHz DDR3 and I am unsure what pc3 it was and wondering if it matters what pc3 the new ram I get is?

Solution
Based off that motherboard, you can have 4 x DIMM, Max. 32GB, DDR3 2600(O.C.)/2400(O.C.)/2200(O.C.)/2133(O.C.)/2000(O.C.)/1866(O.C.)/1800(O.C.)/1600/1333 MHz.

Which means any DDR3 combo set should work, as long as it's within the above specs.
If I'm not mistaken, the PC3 is based off the speed of the ram since the motherboard is either 100 or 200 mhz. You take it double it twice. The PC3 should be on the actual RAM stick itself. However, I would recommend getting a combo set. In theory, getting the same exact RAM should work, but you can run into problems. I'm giving you both options, because if one fails, you can try the other.

The pc3 isn't on the stick itself and I plan on getting 2 8gb sticks of 1866 mhz which is what I previously had except I had 2 4gb sticks I just don't know if the pc3 has to be compatible with my motherboard (asus p8z77-v pro) Thanks

So, essentially the pc3 15000 doesn't matter?
