for GTX1060 you don't really need to worried which model have the best performance when technically pretty much every 1060 can have same performance including overclocking potential. just look at this one for example:

https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/GTX_1060_OC/26.html

even when overclocked the more expensive Gaming X model did not pose significant performance advantage over this one which priced at the base MSRP for GTX1060. with 1060 the only advantage of the more expensive model probably only down to more slightly cooling operation, that 0dB feature and.... better look?
Tho the 480 has made some inroads with new drivers, it still doesn't catch the 1070 in Techpowerups Gaming Test Suite. The 1060 also has much more overclocking headroom than the 480.

The 1060 uses 80 watts less power, is quieter, produces less heat. In a new build that probably means upping your PSU by 100 watts and adding an extra case fan. Finally, if it matters, at average gamer usage, it means about $50 extra in electric bills over 3 years if you pay $0.10 per kw-hr ... for me that's $125... in Europe $250

What games you do you enjoy playing? Can affect the recommendation :p But so far, the 6GB version of the GTX1060 looks like the better card in terms of average FPS (but not by much). It seems however, that the GTX1060 has the the higher lowest frames achieved, so it performs quite consistently, and that's just comparing the EVGA GTX1060 3GB against the 4GB RX480. The performance is quite close, but GTX1060 comes out ahead, and the 6GB variant will fare better at ultra graphics and higher resolutions. The price difference is a question for you to resolve.

The differences between FE and AIB cards, in general, include:

Better GPU cooling / lower temps
More performance
Better PCB componentry including chokes, caps etc
Less noise
More features (LEDs, LED controls, independent fan control, fan shutoff, extra software)
No throttling (applies to 1070 / 1080 ... 1060 too low power to throttle)
Additional VRM / Memory cooling

As for cost, right now the on newegg, the MSI 3 GB 1060 Gaming X offering is $229 with a $40 free game ... the lowest cost MSI 1060 is $223 and no free game .... for $6, getting the Gaming X is the proverbial "no brainer" even if you consider the free game worthless. At 6 GB, it's a $13 difference, again with the free game ... Again, even without the free game, i don't see a value to the cost savings.

While the EVGA SC series has a better cooler, historically it hasn't had any of the other PCB improvements that the other AIB cards have.
