I have a 1155 motherboard I got on eBay for about $30 (HP 614491-002 Z210) that used to belong to a system unit

And I got a stock cooler advertised to fit the 1155 socket - also from eBay for about $5

So everything arrives, and the stock cooler doesn't fit on the motherboard

I tried to see if the heat sink wasn't the right size by putting it on another 1155 motherboard I own -- and it worked-- so it's not that the cooler is the wrong size - does this motherboard require a specific cooler?

I should add, although it might not matter - the 1155 motherboard the the cooler did fit on was a micro atx form factor -- the board that it WONT fit on is a full sized ATX board

Any help is appreciated - thank you so much

HP, Dell and other mass market sellers like to use proprietary componentry so they can always tie you to purchasing replacement parts from them. This can be anything from proprietary connectors for HDs to cheaper / proprietary cooling systems.
