After having a large heavy case for so long, I decided to build a micro atx gaming rig. My budget is around 2 grand. I cannot figure out whether or not to go with liquid cooling or air cooling this time around.

My concerns of air vs. liquid being;

  • The size of the case causing heat retention.
    Noise levels.
    Cost.
    How the end build looks.
I had a mid tower that would overheat a long time ago but it was poorly vented with one fan in the back, I just don't want that to happen again. I also need a quieter system because I record music.
Liquid cooling would put me over my projected budget but could potentially be quieter and look awesome!

So would an air cooled option be feasible for this small case without overheating? I have no plans of overclocking. I can get super quiet fans I just want some feed back before I make this decision.

What I have picked out so far:

  • Apevia X-Qpack 3 $59.99
    Core i7 6800k 3.4 ghz $400
    EVGA X99 Micro2 $183
    G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB $196
    Gtx 1080 (Fan cooled or liquid cooled) $600-800
    Acer predator recertified 4k g-sync monitor $650
I already have hard drives, psu, and operating system. Any feed back is welcome and appreciated!

I don't recommend Apevia. I don't consider them a premium case manufacturer. And Definitely don't run your $2000 system off of the power supply that comes included with that QPack case.

I would look for a cube case by Fractal Design instead.
