Hey guys, I would love your Help
So i got my Brothers Old "gaming" pc which he basically did'nt use anymore.
Here is the story, and the system specs are at the very bottom of the posting
so he got this PC 2 years ago, initially it would crash during video streaming. the display would freeze or go all colorful with lines or blocks... and he would have to hard reset the PC. He realized he didnt have enough power for the rig as he only had a 500W supply so he Uped it to an 1100W supply which seemed to solve the issue with the crashes during the video streams.
Shortly after that he realized that even with the improved power supply the PC would still crash during gaming . so he got fed up and never used the PC.
Here is where i come in.
i took the PC and i added
a Nactua D15 CPU cooler
6 new cooler master fans, 3 for intake and 3 for exhaust, (draws fresh air in through front and bottom, hot air out through back and top.
^^ this was all good for CPU temps but the system would still crash with furmark and gaming.
so what i did next is i used MSI afterburn to Speed the fans of my GPU to 100%, and i had all the other fans Running at 100%... still crashed after temps reached about 55 degrees Celsius.
.... so i did the unthinkable which actually made it work
I underclocked the GPU using Afterburner
Core clock of 465
Memory clock of 625
with Power +20 Forcing constant voltage,
GPU fans running at a custom Aggressive cooling rate... (example when GPU hits 40degrees fans are at 90% of max)
so this stabilized the system under gaming but you can see how frustrating it is not to be able to use your GPU to its optimal potential.
System Specs
Mother board: ASRock 990FX extreme 9 ATX AM 3+
CPU: AMD FX-9590 4.7Ghz 8 core
CPU cooler Noctua NH d15
GPU: XFX r9 280 double Dissipation
Memory: ADATA 2x8GB ddr3
Storage: Toshiba 1TB 7200RPM HDD
Case: Not sure but its really open and well ventilated mid tower
Power supply: Apevia 1100W Switching power supply ( honestly i think this might be one of the issues)
OS: run windows 7 professional 64bit
anyways guys please please please help me out i really wana get this thing working and potentially Corssfire with another R9 280 in the near future.
