Strange Computer Issues since new PSU installed

Recently my PSU blew out (it was a cheap temporary one so it was expected to happen sooner rather than later),

i replaced it with a EVGA supernova G2 550, i would have gotten a stronger one but it seemed unnecessary and out of my price range, since putting it in my computer seems to 'refresh' I use this term because it doesn't freeze.

the cursor and keyboard keep working fine and it's only for an instant but when it does it it causes most programs to stutter, videos and music either freeze or crash altogether (giving me a generic playback error message) while games get FPS drops but quickly stabilize.

I have checked and the PSU should be more than enough (used powersupplycalculator.net + other sites), but I am not sure, if it isn't the PSU then it could be anywhere and i have theories I am just not sure where to start looking, The motherboard IS old and outdated (not actually sure if it supports my current RAM?).

I should mention i have used programs such as EVGA precision for my GPU to check for any sudden drops in voltage but it does not show any such problem which is what turns my attention away for a PSU fault but i could easily be mistaken.

Specs:

Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

CPU: AMD FX-8350

RAM: Corsair 16GB DDR3 2400mhz

Motherboard: ASRock 970 Extreme4 (CPUSocket)

Monitors:
ASUS MG248 (1920x1080@60Hz)
ACER K242HL (1920x1080@60Hz)
ACER K242HL (1920x1080@60Hz)

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 (Gigabyte)

Storage:
119GB SanDisk SDSSDHP128G ATA Device (SSD)
1863GB Seagate ST2000DM001-1E6164 ATA Device (SATA)
1863GB TOSHIBA HDWD120 ATA Device (SATA)

PSU: EVGA supernova GZ 550w

Edit: should also note I have checked the cables and everything seems to be fine and plugged in correctly, tried with both ECO mode on and off (on PSU).

Also switching between 60HZ and 144HZ seems to make no difference in the frequency of this problem and disconnecting monitors also makes no difference (my first thought was too much power required for 3 monitors so i have tried and currently have only 2 running)

As a side-note, just in case its any help, if i try to use a normal media player (windows media player for example) when my PC 'refreshes' it cause it to stop playing whatever it was playing stating it can no longer find the file but if you just hit play again it will instantly find it and resume.

Solution: for some reason a 3.5mm jack extension cable was causing my issue, removed it and plugged headset directly in and PC is working fine

Solution
The problem was being caused by a faulty extension cable for my headset, was causing my computer to switch my headset between a headset and speakers causing anything that used audio to freak out, if you have a similar issue check audio cables.
