Using RAM with faster speed than the motherboard can support?

The board will simply downclock the memory to the rate it can handle, in most cases. In some cases, the motherboard will simply refuse to work with certain memory. Asus is pretty good about that aspect, so I don't think it will refuse to work, and it may even work at the rated speed, so you'll probably be fine.

Same price, then buy the higher clocked one in the case that you want to upgrade your CPU and board in the future, but keep the ram.
