So I bought my brother a new SSD for christmas, just a 120gb Kingston SSD now. His computer already has a 1tb drive in it so it's not a new install. My problem comes from the computer recognizing the drive in the Motherboard bios, but windows wont show or recognize the drive in the storage and management. I can't figure out why windows wont recognize the drive. It's probably also worth mentioning that he's running windows 8.1 home 64bit. Anybody know how to solve this? any help is greatly appreciated.

Open command prompt as Admin
type exactly as follows

DISKPART
List Disk
Select disk "X" (X being the 120GB SSD, MAKE SURE ITS YOUR SSD.)
create partition primary
format fs=ntfs label=system quick
assign letter W
exit

now you should have your 120gb drive all available and you should be able to see it

Sorry it's taken me a while to reply, moving and what not. Anyways "creat partition primary" worked but even time I try to format the computer tells me I don't have any volume selected even though I keep on selecting the ssd.
