  1. The PCIe slot will be fine. However, what is the CPU you have in there currently? And is there a graphic card now?
  2. Your motherboard supports socket 775 processors. Which CPU have you got? Without this info its impossible to give you a view of which GPU might be worth installing....also a budget would be useful.

    Yes you can install a PCI-E 3.0 GPU into a PCI-E 2.0 slot.
  3. I have an Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 and the graphics card currently is an Intel GMA 3000

that CPU reached EOL in 2006 (a decade ago). So, if you want modern games, you may want to consider saving up and getting a new motherboard, cpu, and possibly power supply. An older GPU is needed for that.
  5. I hope your not expecting to play modern AAA titles....your CPU isn't powerful enough I'm afraid.

There would be no point in installing a current generation AMD or Nvidia card so I'd be looking at a second hand Nvidia GTX 660 Ti or AMD equivalent...it really depends on your budget but you'll most likely be CPU bound either way.

Also you need to look at what PSU you have and whether it has the relevant PCI-E 6/8 pin connectors.
  6. I was going to suggest maybe a https://www.amazon.com/XFX-Radeon-6850-Graphics-HD685XZNFC/dp/B0047ZH7FU which is a Radeon 6850. That's taking it back.

But again, it's really on point in adding a GPU. I would save up, spend some money on parts and build your own PC.
  7. Why does the cpu matter if you have a current generation gpu? I dont know alot about computer stuff so i wanna know why

For one, you are still on the Core 2 series. The performance inside of that CPU is not designed to handle heavy duty content. You need at least some type of i3 CPU in order to enjoy modern gaming.
  9. Because the CPU supplies data to the GPU to process...old slow CPU = low output (frames per second) from GPU
